Senior Downsizing

Downsizing for seniors requires patience and understanding as it can create emotional and some physical challenges as there is a lot of memories involved with a home that may have been in family for years.  Especially difficult if a loved one has passed on as well and now the remaining partner has to deal with all this on their own. If a move is created by health issues or concerns there is so many other pertinent items to be considered than just selling a property, such as handicapped services, care givers, proximity to hospitals, transit, family, plus many more.  

As overwhelming as it may seem I pride myself on making it as safe and stress free as possible.  I have experienced this first hand in both Canada with my parents and my uncle in the United States over the last few years.  This encompassed everything from power of attorneys, Florida and Ontario laws, veteran affairs, setting up homes for handicapped services, caregivers, assisted living, full time long term care…even identity theft and fraud in Florida.   

It may be just simply moving from a large house to a condo or smaller property.  The big question, where is all the furniture going to fit? OR the new life style changes with condo living.  Eventually you will, after some time realize it was the right move for you but at the time it can be a little daunting.
